If this were played upon a stage now, I could condemn it as an improbable fiction.
Shipwrecked on an unknown shore, Viola is separated from her twin brother Sebastian. She thinks he’s dead. He thinks she’s dead. And everyone else has no idea which one’s which.
Viola embraces a secret new identity by disguising herself as a boy to work for the Duke Orsino. She falls in love with him, but he’s already in love with Olivia. Olivia then falls for Viola thinking she’s Sebastian.
Who’s who? Who’s in love with who? Confusion, misdemeanour and farce abound in this fast-paced comedy full of gender and sexual ambiguity, where none of the characters really know what’s going on!
If music be the food of love, play on.
Address: The Old Brewery Store, Shepherd Neame Brewery, Mill Place, Faversham, Kent, ME13 7DY.
All seating is unreserved.
This is an indoor performance. Seating is provided.
Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available.
Tickets - Adults: £25.00, Ages 10-18: £15.00
Children aged under ten go free to all performances but will require a ticket. 'Free' tickets are not available for purchase on-line. Please contact the Box Office on 01634 338338 to purchase your tickets if you have children aged under 10 in your party.
Please note that if you leave your tickets Care of Box Office, you will be unable to collect these at the venue on the day of the performance. Refund Policy
Tickets will be non-refundable except where a performance is cancelled.
No decision on whether to cancel any performance due to inclement weather will be made until 30 minutes before the start of any performance.
If a performance is cancelled before curtain-up, the cost of tickets will be refunded. No refunds will be made if the performance is cancelled after curtain-up, although exchanges may be offered at certain venues.
To obtain a refund for a cancelled performance, customers must return tickets to the Box Office, either by post or in person. The Box Office will process your refund as quickly as possible, but this may take up to three days. Card purchases will be refunded to the card used to make the purchase. Cash refunds can not be made and, in the case of cancellation, a cheque will be issued to refund cash purchases.
The Venue
The Faversham Brewery has been home to Shepherd Neame, Britain’s oldest brewer, since at least 1698.
Nestled in the medieval market town, brewing has continued on the site for centuries but, for the first time, it will also be home to the Changeling Theatre summer tour for one night only in 2025, on Wednesday, July 16.
Theatre fans will be able to sit back and soak up the atmosphere in the brewery’s events space, The Old Brewery Store, which was created in the former wines and spirits warehouse, and is adorned with past pub signs from the brewer’s estate, while watching the show.
The spacious store also comes with its own bar, which will be open for theatregoers on the night, serving a selection of its award-winning ales and lagers, as well as wines and spirits, though it will not be serving when the players are performing. There will be no food facilities available.
Seating will be available, so there is no need to bring your own chairs. Parking is not available on site.
Shepherd Neame has hosted the theatre company for the last two years in its pub gardens, but this year it is giving guests a unique chance to sample a slice of Shakespeare with Sheps on its home ground. Step inside for a special night!
Entrance to The Old Brewery Store is via Mill Place, Faversham ME13 7DY. You can also find out more about the brewery here: https://www.shepherdneame.co.uk/brewery
